Congrats to our World Champions!

The 2017 Badminton World Championships were held last week at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland where there was plenty of upsets and shocking wins. In men’s singles action the reigning Olympic Champion Chen Long advanced to the semi-finals where he faced the number 2 seed Viktor Axelsen from Denmark. It was not his day and Viktor took Chen Long down handily in two straight games. Viktor then played the prolific Lin Dan in the finals where he defeated the former world and Olympic champion in two well deserved games.

The area was filled with fans and athletes from all over the world and there was plenty of athletes taking advantage of high, tech cutting edge Li-Ning badminton equipment. Zhang Nan now enjoys 4 world championship titles and 2 Olympic GOLD medals making him one of the most successful badminton players in modern history. Mixed doubles action saw all Li-Ning sponsored athletes Tontowi Amhad and Liliyana Natsir vs.Zheng Siwei and Chen Qingchen in the finals with the Indonesians squeaking by in a tight 3 game match 15-21, 21-16, 21-15. The older and more experienced Tontowi Amhad chooses all Li-Ning badminton equipment including the N9II badminton racket and Liliyana Natsir uses the all new N7II Light in a green and black colorway. And finally our women’s doubles team saw Chen Qingchen in the finals a second time with Jia Yifan but this time Chen Qingchen clinched the coveted gold medal with a solid win over Japan’s Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota 21-18, 17-21, 21-15. What a great win from the 20 year old pair from China!
